Portugal won this Sunday, the “Vilamoura World” 3* Grand Prix. Luís Sabino Gonçalves was the fastest in the 1.50 m jump-off, having carried out the two rounds without faults.
“I’m very happy, especially because I won with a horse that I have just purchased. He has improved very well. It is a horse with a lot of potential to have a good result in the European Championship this year and next year’s World Equestrian Games”, said Luís Sabino Gonçalves.
The Portuguese rider rode the 11 years gelding , Scott Império Egípcio (Lord Calando x Nidor Platiere) the one he had won the 1.35 m class last Friday and came 6th in the Longines Ranking Class (1.45 m) on Saturday.
The “Vilamoura World” Grand Prix designed by the dutch course designer, Henk Linders, had 45 combinations where 7 of them qualified to the jump-off. The Dutch Charlotte Verhagen, with Abache HL, has taken the second place while the british Ellen Whitaker was third.
This was the 5th of 6 weeks in this Vilamoura Atlantic Tour 2017 where we will be back to the final week next Tuesday with the young horses classes.
